No surprise there as it’s around two decades old now and actually precedes Lightroom. Many have heard – or even used – some version of ACDSee. What is ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate? Quick Overview ACD Systems (rather happily, I must add) had next to no say in it. Having said that, it’s my subjective opinion and findings that you are reading here. While I realize it’s an entirely subjective approach to managing and editing photographs, I hope that it will at least give you a good starting point from which to individualize.Īn important disclaimer: The license to this copy of ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2018 has been provided by the company I did not purchase it. In this article, I will go through a workflow that I’ve been using with Photo Studio Ultimate as I got myself properly acquainted with it. ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate is certainly one. In light of Adobe’s recent (or was it really recent?) change of policy regarding payment (among other things), however, I have felt the need to take a look around and see if perhaps there are alternatives. And let’s be honest, for all of its faults, Lightroom has been the most popular choice with good reason. I’ve used it extensively and exclusively for just about every project in the past seven or eight years. Mind you, ACD Systems faces an obvious, towering obstacle by the name of Lightroom, a piece of software that has been the industry standard for nearly a decade now. Perhaps an option is to use a Windows based external editor that would also run in the VM.Somehow, my desktop really is this clean. but frankly having used a trial Mac version, it's not nearly as good as the Windows release).Given that a VM isolates the applications running in it from any other software on the computer, I don't think that would be possible. I know I could use ACDSee for Mac instead of the Windows version I use and overcome the problem that way. as an external editor from inside ACDSee? EXE files exclusively.Īny thoughts on a work-around which might allow me to launch the external Mac app. Of course, when you choose an external editor in ACDSee, the system is looking for. I would like to be able to launch a Mac app as an external editor from inside ACDSee. I run ACDSee on a Windows 10 virtual machine (VM) running inside a Mac operating system (using Parallels). Not sure if anyone will have the same set up as me or have anything similar to the same desired functionality. Here's one out of left field which could best be described as "niche".
